Early Detection

In dentistry, prevention is, without doubt, the cure. Dr. Kollia and Dr. Fu use their expertise to offer preventive services to detect the early signs of dental complications. Catching these issues early makes them easier to treat and will save you money in the long run.

Maintaining Health

Regular dental check-ups allow you to keep your teeth and gums looking and feeling healthy. Our preventive treatments stop the buildup of plaque or decay, which could lead to larger health problems.

Preventing Future Problems

If you don’t care for your smile now, it could result in expensive and potentially painful issues in the future. Our caring team teaches you how to build a successful hygiene routine and guides you to optimal oral health.

Dental Exams
Regular six-month dental exams are recommended by the American Dental Association and our experienced general dentists. These exams help prevent severe dental problems from evolving by catching any potential issues early and treating them.

Dr. Kollia and Dr. Fu offer comprehensive patient exams, which include:

  • Examination of your teeth and gums
  • Intraoral photos
  • Full mouth series
  • Digital x-rays (if required)
Oral Cancer Screenings
Modern research shows certain types of oral cancer are on the rise. At Aesthetica Contemporary Dentistry, we provide oral cancer screening using modern technology and advanced training. It is our aim to diagnose any cancer early and prevent it from becoming severe. We do this by thoroughly examining your head, mouth, and neck for any suspicious lumps or lesions.

We recommend undergoing an oral cancer screening every 6-12 months or when you notice any unusual lumps, bleeding, or pain in your mouth.

Digital X-rays
We use state-of-the-art digital x-rays and digital cameras to assist us in providing an accurate diagnosis. Our panoramic x-ray will capture your entire mouth in a single image, including the teeth, upper and lower jaws, and surrounding structures and tissues.

Digital x-rays are safer for our patients, reducing radiation by as much as 90%. Digital x-rays are also better for the environment as they eliminate the use of processing chemicals.

Professional Cleaning
The foundation of solid dental care is routine cleaning and maintenance. Despite regular brushing and flossing, there may still be a build-up of decay or plaque that needs to be removed to prevent further problems. This can be achieved through professional cleanings performed by our dental hygienist.

We customize cleanings on the basis of your periodontal (gums and bone) health. We use medicated gels along with prescription mouth rinses in problem areas when required. Ultrasonic scalers may be used to make the treatment more comfortable and effective.

Fluoride Treatment
Children and adults with insufficient fluoride levels could be at a greater risk of dental decay. Fluoride is traditionally found in water, but some patients require additional fluoride in order to keep their levels high.

For those who do require more fluoride, we offer mouthwashes and professionally applied gels and varnishes. These are administered onto the teeth and/or gums to boost the fluoride levels in your teeth.

Sealants
Sealants can be used as part of a child’s preventive dental care. Many children and teens struggle to reach the chewing surfaces of their molars (back teeth) when brushing. This results in food and debris becoming trapped, which could lead to tooth decay. With dental sealants, the chewing surfaces are covered to prevent any particles from getting in.

Sealants are thin resin coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the molars and are fitted in three easy steps:

1. We clean the tooth with a special paste.
2. A special cleansing liquid is rubbed gently on the tooth and is washed off.
3. Finally, the sealant is painted on the tooth. It takes about a minute for the sealant to form a protective shield.

TMJ
Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ or TMD) refers to the acute or chronic inflammation of the joint connecting your jaw to your skull. TMJ/TMD can cause pain in the jaw, neck, head, or shoulders. Common symptoms include headaches, bite problems, popping or locking of the jaw, and difficulty chewing.

TMJ/TMD can be treated using specific medication, retainers, nightguards, bite guards, restorative dentistry, or through adjustments to your bite. If you are experiencing any of these common symptoms then please contact us today.
